Chef Guide
How to use the Live Larder — takes 2 minutes to learn
Capturing an Invoice
1
Delivery arrives. Before anything else, take a clear photo of the invoice. Make sure the full page is visible, no fingers covering text, good lighting.
2
Open Telegram. Go to your venue's invoice channel (e.g. "Hartes — Invoices"). Send the photo. That's it.
3
The system reads it. Within 30 seconds you'll get a reply showing every line item, price, and any price changes since the last delivery. No typing required.
4
Check for alerts. If any prices went up more than 2%, you'll see a red flag in the reply. If another venue got a better price, you'll be told which one and how much cheaper.
Before You Place an Order
1
Search the Larder. Open the Live Larder on your phone. Type the product you need (e.g. "mince beef"). You'll see every supplier's current price and which venue got the best deal.
2
Check the best price. The system shows a green "Best" badge next to the cheapest option. If your usual supplier is more expensive, consider the alternative or negotiate.
3
Place your order as normal. Phone call, app, order sheet — however you usually do it. The Larder doesn't change how you order, it just makes sure you know the best price before you do.
Weekly Price Report
📋
Every Monday morning, Paul and each head chef receives a summary on Telegram: biggest price movers, cross-venue discrepancies, spend by supplier, and savings opportunities. No login needed — it lands on your phone automatically.
Rules
✓
Every invoice gets photographed. No exceptions. The system only works if it sees every delivery.
Photograph before filing. Take the photo, send it to Telegram, then put the invoice in the Dext pile as normal.
Check the Larder before ordering high-value items. Anything over €100 per order — spend 10 seconds checking if another supplier is cheaper. It'll become second nature after a week.
